成績不振の学生には、親の育て方・接し方に、いくつかの共通した特徴が見られることが分かりました。

　最も多かったケースは、干渉が多かったり、逆に過保護にしてしまったり・・・要するに、親が子供の力を信じていないタイプです。そういう親の子供は、自分から動かなければいけないという意識に欠け、自主性を失ってしまいます。また、学習方法が安直で、物事を深く考えることができません。知識はあるけれど、感性が貧弱で、興味があることを追求していく力が弱いんです。

　それから、放任主義の親。子供の意思を尊重することはもちろん大事なことですが、自由にさせてしまえば子供は当然だらしなく、自己中心的に育ちます。そういった学生は、早起きできなかったり、きちんと食事を取らなかったりと、不規則で怠惰な生活を送っていました。

　また、圧迫系の育て方をされた子供は、消極的で、困難にぶち当たるとすぐに逃げる臆病な性格になってしまいます。先ほど挙げたような、常に兄弟姉妹と比較されてきたり、父親が絶対的権威を振りかざす息苦しい家庭の出身者です。

　それから、親子で性質が似てしまうケース。神経質な親の子供は、同じように神経質で引っ込み思案になるし、自己中心的な親の子供は、やはり利己主義的で人の気持ちを汲み取れない子供になります。
